Bitumen Melter

Bitumen is a key component in road construction.

Bitumen is a mixture of organic liquids that are highly viscous, black, sticky, and entirely soluble in carbon disulfide. Bitumen or asphalt melters are primarily used with asphalt mixing plants in territories where bitumen is not available in bulk, regular supplies are unreliable, or bitumen stored in drums is used as an alternative. Naturally occurring or crude bitumen is a sticky, tar-like form of petroleum which is very thick and heavy requiring heating or dilution before it will flow. For the bitumen to be applied, it needs to be heated first and LPG is used to heat bitumen for the best construction experience.

LPG bitumen melters (bitumen tanks/kettles) are designed to reheat and melt bitumen packed in drums. They can be fitted to installations such as coating plants or bitumen binder production plants. These melters can also be mounted on road trailers or semi-trailers for easy, fast transportation.

Features

  • With LPG used as a fuel for bitumen, asphalt melting, the technology to melt and apply bitumenous products is simple and can be a lower cost alternative in comparison to other heat sources.
  • LPG bitumen melters provide good thermostatically controlled temperature level.

Benefits

  • LPG as a fuel provides clean burning for lowest emissions
  • Offers significant advantages for bitumen and aspalt works especially on remote locations.
  • LPG bitumen / asphalt melters are easy to operate and simple to maintain.
  • The use of LPG protects the environment, the air, the soil and the water since it remains in closed circuit, eliminating the risk of fuel spillage onto the ground or water
  • Due to its clean burning properties, the use of LPG in bitumen / asphalt melters reduces maintenance needs and ensures longer life of the equipment
